The men and women of white and black -- A tribute to AHSJAB

Among the formations of disciplined men and women standing defiant against the merciless glare of the blazing sun, amidst the myraid of uniforms of many a colour, there stand a phalanx of individuals; individuals who embody compassion, skill and utmost perseverance. These are the men and women whom so many of us owe limb and life to, these are the men and women who selflessly devote their time and energy to honing their skills of mercy, these are the men and women who will stand their ground while others wither. These are the men and women of white and black; the unsung heroes of AHSJAB.

As events have made apparent the skillful competence of these men and women, it is vital to note that the sweet fruits of their success were not obtained by mere proposition and planning, these fruits were nourished by the water of their tears and sweat. Let their marvellous deeds and skill bear testimony to their perseverance, let it never be forgot that these individuals gave up their holidays and saturdays for the furtherment of their knowledge.

Let it always be so that they will continue to water the plant of success with tears and sweat, let no individual abandon his or her duty.

Though there are individuals who shun these men and women of black and white as fanatical, and some who are oblivious to the mighty exertions of this unit, the men and women of black and white never stooped to the level of petty bickering. Accepting their duty, they work silently behind the scenes, behind the facade of loud but false enthusiasm put up by the holders of the highest authority who in their moments of delusion, forget that even the great Buddha rests on a lowly lily pad. Let it be known henceforth, that these men and women of white and black care not for fame or prestige, or for the cooing of those at the apex of power. Let it be known that the noble souls of these men and women will not be tarnished by the false delusions of grandeur and importance. Let it be known that, though unsung heroes among men, the Choir of Angels sing in full voice in praise of their deeds.

As the small band of men and women in black and white march, sanguine of step, toward an uncertain future, they will not falter, for their faith in their skill and commitment in perfecting that skill is their aegis. Indefatigable, they have strived, are striving and will continue to strive. Of such a manificent band of individuals I am honoured to be a part of; once again, I salute you, men and women of white and black; of whom this tribute is hardly flattering.
